Allison R. Honaker

Research Assistant and Data Analyst

Allison Honaker works part-time for the Chicago Zoological Society’s Sarasota Dolphin Research Program. She began participating in photo-identification research with Mote Marine Laboratory’s Manatee Research Program in 2010 and now works full-time for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Manatee Photo-Identification Program. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Missouri in 2011 and her Master of Professional Studies degree in Marine Mammal Science from the University of Miami in 2013. Allison has worked for the Chicago Zoological Society since April 2013, transitioning from a full-time position to part-time position in January 2015. She assists with processing photo-identification data collected by staff at Chicago Zoological Society’s Sarasota Dolphin Research Program: identifying animals seen, entering identifications in databases, grading the quality of photos, and searching for unfamiliar animals. She has also participated in the bottlenose dolphin health assessments in Sarasota Bay, Florida, since 2013.
