The Dolphin Biology Research Institute is a Sarasota-based 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation established in 1982 to provide logistical support to the Sarasota Dolphin Research Program with research vessels, towing vehicles, computers, cameras, field equipment, etc.
Ramsey J. Frangie is the Sarasota-based business owner of Ramate Construction Inc. and Helical Seawalls LLC, and a long-time volunteer with the Sarasota Dolphin Research Program. As a business owner, his expertise includes identifying areas of need and developing and implementing systems to fulfill those needs. His experience also includes developing management systems to monitor, measure and improve systems and adapt to changes in the business climate.
Frangie also has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and has served local and national nonprofit organizations. He has experience in board governance, leadership and implementing board fiduciary responsibilities. He has also participated in hiring teams selecting executive directors, evaluating their performances and ensured that nonprofit organizations were able to achieve their missions.
In addition to his Board role in DBRI, he is the Chair of the City of Sarasota Advisory Board. He has also volunteered with the National Marine Mammal Foundation and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He is a former board member of Art Center Sarasota, Crowley Museum and Nature Center and Friends of Sarasota County Parks.
