School Curriculum

The Secret Life of Dolphins is a 4-week high-school curriculum.

The curriculum teaches students about dolphins, from a researcher’s perspective.

Students and teachers work with real data, which is based on dolphins  from Sarasota Bay and from Brookfield Zoo.

The course offers a glimpse into scientific inquiry. The students learn how data on dolphins are collected and analyzed.

Working with their teachers, students get practice using data to support or refute theories.

Students also learn the value of research to support conservation goals.

The Secret Life of Dolphins was developed with Federal support by the Chicago Zoological Society in collaboration with Mote Marine Laboratory.

The down-loadable curriculum unit includes background information for the teachers and classroom-based activities for students.
