Oldest Dolphins Observed

January 5, 2013: The two oldest dolphins in Sarasota Bay were observed together in one of the first dolphin sightings to be added to the long-term database in 2013.
Nicklo, now 63 years old, is the oldest documented bottlenose dolphin in the world (others may be older, but few ages have been documented).
She was observed with 60-yr-old BlackTipDoubleDip working a bait school in southern Sarasota Bay.
These two older females are seen together relatively frequently, as was the case when the above photo was taken last summer. Nicklo and BlackTipDoubleDip are on the left, and Nicklo’s daughter and new grandcalf are on the right.
Very Interesting. How do you know her exact age?
We have a female indo-pacific dolphin here in Queensland called Abby and she is 62, still plays a lot and is an auntie to many of the young dolphins here.
